In this film, outspokenly homosexual filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim has documented his encounters with friends in the New York "underground" arts movement, the better-known of whom are William Burroughs (who says nothing for the camera), Andy Warhol (seen in the distance) and Fernando Arrabal (who is interviewed in Spanish). In his film, Rosa von Praunheim approaches the famous communist theater director Erwin Piscator by developing irreverent improvisations in the spirit of Piscator together with acting students from the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in East Berlin. Interspersed with this are statements by theater professor Peter Jung, which serve as a biographical guide and shed light on the background of Piscator's epic and total theater.

Wonderful Wrodow

No Eastern cliché fits the small village of Wrodow in the state of Mecklenburg Vorpommern, about which Rosa von Praunheim filmed a documentary in the fall of 1999. No bitterness, no unemployment and no right-wing radicals, but instead 60 people full of joie de vivre and warmth. The people of Wrodow are proud of their castle, which was bought 6 years ago by a youth judge, his wife and the painter Sylvester Anthony from the West. It is the venue for opera balls, Venetian masked balls, modern exhibitions and concerts.
