Hélène, a woman living alone in a suburban house in 1976, is confronted by her past when her husband suddenly reappears after going away for a year and a half to write a novel.

Alice, 65 years old, becomes roommate with Guy, 25 years old. After confessing to him that she’s recently widowed and incapable of going back in her own house since, Alice asks for Guy's help in facing her grief. Together, they return to her house, where memories are waiting.

Charlotte is an alcoholic trying to complete her first year of sobriety. One evening, when the urge to drink is so strong that she fears a relapse, Charlotte goes to see her sponsor, Jeanne, an alcoholic who has been sober for over five years. However, when Charlotte arrives at Jeanne's, she finds her sponsor in a state of drunkenness. With the roles of helper and cared-for now reversed, Charlotte decides to step in.
