Elcano & Magellan: The First Voyage Around the World

The first journey around the world began under the command of Ferdinand Magellan and was concluded by Juan Sebastián Elcano. Five boats left Seville on September 20, 1519. Storms, famine, tribes… Three years later, only one made it back. An incredible adventure around the planet whose roundness was finally proven.

Death Knell

Human bones are found at the Garizmendi farmhouse. Farmers Fermin and Karmen call their son Nestor, who reports the matter to the authorities. But, when the agents turn up, the bones are gone. Suddenly, the bell on the nearby chapel begins to peal. This bad omen announces the coming of tragic events and reopens old wounds within the family and those around it.

Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil

Basque Country, Spain, 1843. A police constable arrives at a small village in Álava to investigate a mysterious blacksmith who lives alone deep in the woods.

Seventeen

To find his therapy dog, a 17-year-old escapes from juvie and embarks on a journey of reconnection with his brother and grandmother through Cantabria.

Cows

A film set in the Basque region, beginning in the Carlist war of 1875 and ending during the Spanish Civil war of 1936. The film portrays how one single act of cowardice shapes the life of the next three generations of two families and fuels the intense rivalry which will span the next sixty-one years.

Amama

The story of a family; the story of a conflict. The rural and the urban, the past and the present, parents and their offspring: opposing ways of life struggle against one another whilst, in eloquent silence, the grandmother ('amama') watches her family’s destiny unfold.

The Border

Joxean is not aware of the border in her country. He moves every week to sell pigs. For Kamaru, the border means every obstacle and danger. They both have to fight the same enemy.

In the course of an ox competition, a whole town loses a lot of money by betting on the favourite couple of oxen.

Two men meet in a florist shop. Their talk will bring them through the city of San Sebastian and through their memories.

Two people, a man and a woman, wake up naked and with their abdomens attached to each other.

70 Big Ones

Raquel is desperate: a series of unfortunate events have led to her daughter being taken and she needs a large amount of money to get her back, and fast. After a desperate plea to the bank, she manages to secure the loan she needs. The problem is that precisely at that moment, a peculiar couple of robbers enter the branch: the drug-addicted Jonan and his partner Lola, who is a deadly combination of smart and psychotic. But Raquel’s stakes are too high, and she knows she must think carefully to outsmart them, save herself and get her money.

Maspalomas

Maspalomas is named after the enclave located in the south of the island of Gran Canaria, famous for its sea of dunes next to its kilometres of beaches and a famous mecca for gay tourism, like Sitges and Mykonos. The film tells the story of Vicente, an elderly man who is openly homosexual and who, when he is admitted to an old people's home, decides to go back into the closet.
