Intimacies

Hamaguchi wrote and directed this film as a graduation project for the students at ENBU Seminar (film and theater school in Tokyo) when he taught there. It is a three-part film: The first part is a documentary-style production of a play; Then the actual full stage production of the play; and the epilogue. Poetry and written words play the central role in the movie.

DONG TENG TOWN

Singer-songwriter Sora has moved to an apartment complex in Dong Teng Town. In the closet, she stumbles upon a large number of old cassette tapes filled with the "inner voice" of a former resident, Tokio.

Aoki is a failing novelist, and Sol is a failing pop singer. Encountering each other in South Korea, speaking different languages, they and their families somehow end up in a truck heading off into the Korean countryside.
