The Invasion

A Russian village struggles through the German occupation during World War II in this tense drama from the Soviet Union. As the town doctor finds his home has been taken by German troops, his daughter becomes involved in the anti-Axis resistance, and his son -- confined to a mental hospital -- escapes to fight the invading armies.

Belated Flowers

Based on the novel of the same name by Anton Chekhov. Princess Mariya fell in love with doctor Toporkov, who was treating her, in the recent past the serf of her family. Now he has become a celebrity and is only concerned about buying a new home profitably. He does not notice her love and marries a rich merchant. The princess in love comes to see Toporkov and opens to him. Her strong feeling touches Toporkov’s hardened heart, he leaves his wife and leaves the princess abroad.

In the Name of the Motherland

The film deals with a Russian battalion under siege by the Germans during the Second World War.

Father and Son

While a factory director is distracted by production problems, his adolescent son suffers from loneliness. His mother is dead, and the father – a kind man and exemplary communist, winner of a Lenin Prize – is unable to find the time to educate his son, or a way to express his feelings. After an argument, the young boy runs away and, at his own risk, joins a band of criminals.

The Murderers Are Coming

Brecht's play Fear and Misery of the Third Reich consists of a series of playlets, portraying National Socialist Germany of the 1930s as a land of poverty, violence, fear and pretence. Nazi antisemitism is depicted in several of the sketches, including "the Physicist", "Judicial Process", and "the Jewish Wife".
