A troubled young woman moves to a new town and falls in love with a young man who is not what he seems.

Frederick's bad luck threatens eviction and leads to the loss of his job. He attempts to end it all but cannot do this right. Having been saved by his Mum, he goes to leave where he runs into a homeless woman and acquaintance who ends his bad luck for good.
