People in the Summer Night
A story set over one night in a small rural community we watch various relationships and actions among local people; these include birth, death, and conflicts fuelled by alcohol. The fates of various characters become interlaced over a long and light-filled summer night in the Finnish countryside. Lumberjacks, a deer-eyed young man Nokia, a family of poor farmers, a young girl and her lover. New life is born, old life dies, man is slain in his prime, and his widow continues her life.
Juha
Juha lives together with younger woman Marja. Juha loves her, but Marja seems to belong to somewhere else. Things get complicated when casanova Shemeikka arrives from strange lands and takes Marja away with him.

The film follows a boy and the relationship between his birth mother and step mother. Based on the novels by Aapeli.
Rintamalotta
Irma has been sent to the front immediately after her marriage to Erik Vuori. Irma and her new "Lotta" companions find themselves in many dangerous situations during the fighting of the Continuation War. Irma is also concerned about Erik's loyalty.

Tells the story of young Anja, a teenage girl living in an approved school (otherwise known as a reform school), and the problems she faces in the outside world after running away.
